Welcome to the memorial page for

Charles Thomas Walters

February 27, 1938 ~ October 17, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Charles Thomas "Tom" Walters, 79, was born in Hollywood, CA in 1938 to Charles and Virginia Walters. While attending high school in Woodland Hills, he would work at his father's pharmacy on Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles. After attending USC, Tom graduated from Oregon State University with a BA/pharmacy degree. He worked for Sav-On Drugs before moving to the Central Coast to open his own "Walters Village Pharmacy" in Orcutt, and its success became a merger with the Longs Drugstore chain which later became CVS. His pharmacist career spanned a total of 55 years!
Tom was his HS student body president and honorably selected as one of a handful of American Junior Red Cross volunteers selected from the entire country to travel to Europe on a visit to represent the U.S. That and a summer spent in Hawaii at 15 started his passion for travel, especially tropical islands, over 20! Tom was an original member of the Pali Kai Outrigger group in Avila Beach and was very active for many years, winning countless races. Even at 79, Tom was always working to stay in strong physical shape, swimming 1.5 miles 3x/week and working out at the gym 3x/week.
Tom passed away peacefully at his home October 17th, 2017. He will be greatly missed by many neighbors, friends, family, his sons Russ Walters, Duane Walters, twins Ammon Walters and Aaron Walters, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and his loving partner and spouse, Mark Dias.
He will be remembered for his generous heart, kind and happy spirit, positive attitude, his love for distinctive cars, and making anyone he met laugh and feel special.
