Walter William Bates

Walter William “Bill” Bates passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022 in Arroyo Grande, Ca.   Bill was born in Carmel, Ca on September 4, 1938 to his parents Walter and Eleanor Bates.   In his early years, he served in the United States Air Force and later attended Fresno State University.  Bill lived, worked, and raised his family in Coalinga, Ca for many years.   He enjoyed the company of good friends and time with family.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darleen Bates; his daughter Kellie Dietert and husband David of Houston and his son Chris Bates and wife Sunny of Weatherford, Tx; and three grandchildren, Rachel, Lauren and Cetch.    A celebration of life is planned for March 4, 2022 at St. Patrick’s catholic church in Arroyo Grande.
