Shawn Joseph Maldonado, husband, father, and recent grandfather passed away in Oceano on November 12,2024. He was born on February 2, 1962, in Hollywood, California to Barbara and Robert Maldonado. He ran wild in Los Angeles County surrounding his life with surfing on the California coast, attending drag races in Pomona, racing at LACR, jamming with concerts at the Roxie, mud bogging with his two daughters in Lancaster and causing havoc down the Sunset Strip.
Shawn dedicated most of his life to being a skilled contractor, 3rd generation, specializing in custom woodwork and design. This talent led him to open a woodworking shop, Village Mouldings, in 2008 after he moved to the Five Cities area in 2007. He created dream homes for his customers where his work will live on beyond his life.
On January 1, 2018, he took a huge leap, scared of giving up his comfort zone as a contractor, he opened SLO-PRO, his true passion, restoring hot rods and building powerful custom engines! He really was a master of all things, classic cars, repairs, full restoration and custom work. He made lifelong friends while working in his shop, would attend coffee and doughnuts and “taking it to Pike Lane” IYKYK!
Shawn is survived by his wife Shari Maldonado, and children, Calla Winn, Dena Maldonado, Nick Maldonado, and granddaughter Sydney Winn.
A memorial will be held later in celebration of his life.
Shawn lived hard, loved harder and we love him so much, he will be greatly missed!
