Sara “Sid” Mershon
March 23, 1947 – October 31, 2025
Sara “Sid” Mershon, 78, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025. She was born on March 23, 1947, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
As a child, Sara traveled throughout the South and Southwestern United States including trips to the Middle East with her parents, who worked in the oil industry. She eventually settled in Arroyo Grande, where she attended Arroyo Grande High School before heading to Washington for college. Sara later returned to her beloved Central Coast, the place she always considered home.
Over the next two decades, Sara worked locally with Loomix Feed, married, and became the proud mother of her son, Jeffrey Paul Mershon. As life evolved, so did her career — she later worked with JMC Construction and Arroyo Grande Medical Offices before eventually enjoying a well-earned retirement.
Sara was an avid movie lover, from classic black-and-white films, Sci-fi to modern thrillers she loved them all. She appreciated the drama, suspense, great stories, and music — and never turned down a Rutger Hauer movie. She cherished good conversation, a strong martini, and the beauty of the Central Coast. Above all, Sara treasured her family and friends and the countless relationships she built throughout her life and travels.
Sara is survived by her son Jeffrey Mershon and his wife Schuyler; and her beloved grandchildren, Connor and Quinn Mershon.
The family would like to give special thanks to her devoted caretaker, Shannon Chew, and her family. Over the past decade, Shannon lovingly welcomed Sara into her own family, providing exceptional care and companionship throughout her journey. The Mershon family is deeply grateful for her dedication and compassion.
