Roy Joseph Steck

Roy J. Steck was born July 9, 193l in Houghton, Michigan and died February 16, 2024 to complications of dementia.

After graduating from Houghton High School, Roy with his father Ray G. Steck and his mother Jean Charlotte Moon-Steck and family moved to Detroit, Michigan. From Detroit they moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Roy enlisted in the United States Army, being honorably discharged in 1953.

He moved to Shell Beach, California to be with family and attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for two years. Roy was a bartender in Pismo Beach where he met his wife, Carol Phillips.  They were married 61 years at the time of his passing.

In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by son Steven P. Steck  and daughter Susan C. Steck. He lost son Scott B. Steck in 1977 due to accidental death while they were on vacation.

Roy is also survived by his grandchildren, Jake Steck and Amelia Steck who live in New York City.

Roy passed peacefully in Amalia’s Care facility in Santa Maria where he received excellent care.

A Celebration of Life is planned for later in the year.
