Reynolds - Ritchie

Pastor Reynolds Ritchie, of Arroyo Grande, went to be with the Lord on June 25th, 2020.  He was born July 19, 1925 in Ruddels Mills, Kentucky. Reverend Ritchie and his wife served as pastors to congregations in Canoga Park, Grover Beach, and Simi Valley, California.  He was part of what Tom Brokaw called the Greatest Generation:  He lived through the Great Depression, served in WWII, and returned  home to help build this nation into what it is today with hard work and self-reliance.

But what meant most to him was winning people to Christ. Not just by preaching sermons from a pulpit, but meeting people one on one and sharing  Christ on a personal level. He rarely wasted an encounter with anyone without witnessing for Jesus. His influence for Christ stretches around the globe.

Pastor Ritchie is survived by his wife of 71 years,Georgia Faye. He is also survived by his son Rev.Rod Ritchie and wife Debbie of Simi Valley,  Tom Ritchie and wife Karna of Simi valley,  and daughter Jackie Abel of Arroyo Grande. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren Ryan Ritchie and wife Kaylynn of Arroyo Grande, Joshua Ritchie and wife Anna of Costa Mesa, Bayley Ojo and husband Segun of Moorpark, Audrey Finley and husband Christopher of Simi Valley, Wesley Bancroft and wife Amina of Santa Paula, Bethany (Bancroft) Zumbado and husband Jesse of Arroyo Grande.  He is survived by great grandchildren Kai, Kalani and Kash Ritchie; Lando Zumbado; Casimer,Miette,Aesop, Petra,and Errol Bancroft; Serenity, Viannah, Genesis, and Raelynn Stewart; and River and Finn Ritchie.  He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Hardwick of Carlisle, Kentucky, niece Keneatha Clark and husband Ronnie of Carlisle, Kentucky and nephew Ritchie Hardwick, of Zanesville, Ohio; great nieces Shasta Fryman and husband Joshua, Hannah Earlywine and husband Josh  of Carlisle, Kentucky, Katie Clark of Carlisle,Kentucky, and great nephew Jared Clark of Carlisle, Kentucky and 10 great-great nieces and nephews of Carlisle, Kentucky.

Pastor Ritchie is preceded in death by father Burgess Ritchie, step-mother Cecil Hughes Ritchie, brother Charles (Buster) Ritchie, and grandson Dustin Bancroft.

A graveside service will be July 6 (Monday) at 2:30 p.m. at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery.
