Raymond Guzman Cuellar, 77, died with his family by his side in Santa Maria, CA on October 3, 2020.
A memorial service will be held Friday at Marshall-Spoo Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach, CA. He was born March 14, 1943, in Helm, Calif., to Roman and Petra Cuellar. Ray or Raymond spent most of his early years as field worker. His family found a permanent home in Oceano, CA. He attended Arroyo Grande High school for two years before deciding to work full time at the Phelan & Taylor Produce Co. until he served in the Army, during the Vietnam War as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. After serving his two years, from 1965-1967, in the service, he returned home to marry his wife, Connie.
Ray and Connie had two children, Anthony and Gilbert, and moved up North to the Bay Area where they would spend over 40 years raising their family. Ray had a few different occupations from being a Sheetmetal worker to a forklift operator. His biggest accomplishment was being a full-time father to his own children (Anthony, Gilbert), grandchildren (Lil A, Teo, Avalina, Araceli), and great grandchildren (Nathan, Joe).
In 2012, Ray and Connie moved back down South to spend the rest of their lives close to where they were raised. Ray enjoyed his last few years of life in Arroyo Grande with Connie and their children, Gilbert, Araceli, Nathan and Joe. Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years, Connie; children Anthony, Gilbert, Lil A, Teo, Avalina, Araceli, Nathan, Joe; grandchildren, Aaron, Daniel, Victoria, Adriana, Alexis; great grandchildren, Nicole, Delilah; sisters, Lupe, Rosie, Pauline, Gloria; brother, Paul.
