Pedro Ramirez Obituary

Pedro Vasquez Ramirez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, passed away on November 9, 2024, in Santa Maria, California, at the age of 95. He was born in Michoacan Mexico to Victor Ramirez and Luz Vasquez.

Pedro immigrated to the United States in 1955 where he worked long hard hours in order to save up enough money to return to Mexico to marry his sweetheart Teresa Bravo. In 1957, they moved to California so that he could pursue his lifelong dream of owning his own land. In 1968, God rewarded his passion for farming and he was able to purchase his first ranch.  The Lord continued to bless the fruits of his labor by allowing him to become a successful Farm Labor Contractor and expanded his farming operation three-fold.

In 1999, he moved to Santa Maria and despite being near retirement age, the farming bug bit him again and he established a strawberry and vegetable farm in the Santa Maria area.  In 2017, at the age of 88, he finally stepped into retirement.  His farming career, which spanned over six decades, was now being redirected into cultivating a beautiful garden with many, many roses, plants and vegetables at his home for him and his family to enjoy.

Pedro is survived by his beautifully devoted wife, Teresa, his three daughters, Marie Ramirez Farley (Hal), Yolanda Ramirez, Rosemary Gonzalez (Jose), his 4 grandchildren, Jenise, Peter, Maria Teresa and Clare.

Pedro will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.  Pedro had a wonderful prayer life, and his faith was deeply rooted in the Lord.  He loved our Blessed Mother, La Virgen de San Juan De Los Lagos.

A Special thank you to all the Priests and to all those who prayed for him.  We would also like to thank the many staff and providers at Cedar Sinai, Davita, Sansum, and UC Irvine who were part of his health care team over the many years.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 17th from 4 to 6 pm at St Anthony’s Church in Los Alamos. A Rosary for Mr. Ramirez will begin at 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday November 18th at 10 am, also at St. Anthony’s. Burial will follow at Santa Maria Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel.
