Patricia "Patsy" Dawn Banker

Patricia (Patsy) Banker, March 20, 1930 – January 14, 2023 of Oceano, California

Patsy passed away quietly at home, surrounded by her family and friends.

Pasty was born in Maywood, CA to Wallace and Gladys McFadden. After graduating from South Gate High School in 1948, she attended Milwaukee Bible College. After graduation, she taught the Bible in rural schools and at Vacation Bible Schools around the country. She traveled often and was eventually  able to visit all 50 states.

In 1956, she married Robert (Bob) Banker and in 1957 she gave birth to her only child, Esther.

In 1960, Bob was called to be the pastor of The Open Door Church of Oceano, with Patsy and Esther by his side. Patsy played piano each Sunday, taught Sunday School, and used her many other talents as a helping pastor’s wife.

She was an active volunteer in the community throughout her life. She volunteered at The Open Door Preschool, famous as Grandma Banker when making holiday pumpkin pies with the preschoolers. She volunteered at the Well-Baby Clinic, was a Campfire Girls’ leader, and was an active member of the Grandmothers’ Club. She was active in her daughter’s and grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s schools and attended most school and sports and performance activities.

She is survived by her daughter, Esther (David) Myers, her grandson, Robert (Melissa) Myers, granddaughters Rachelle (Ali) Hamze and Rachel (Justin) Schuoler and great-grandchildren Noah, Faith, and Hannah Myers. Baby Girl Hamze will join the family in May, 2023. Patsy also is survived by sister Damaris Graf and brother Stanley (Charlotte) McFadden and 10 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Robert, and 3 siblings.

Visitation will be held from 1p.m. to 4p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach. A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, January 23, also at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel.
