Michael "Mike" Peterson of Arroyo Grande, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on [date of death]. Born in Glasgow, Montana in 1952, Mike lived a life full of adventure and dedication to his family.
Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Terry, their children Matt and Erin, grandchildren Jeremy (Elora) ,Grace, Justin, Rowdy, James, and great-grandchild Elijah. He leaves behind sisters Karen, Nancy (George) Glenda (Don), Sandy (Tony) and brother Rick (Brenda); a multitude of nieces and nephews who adored him, cousins and many friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur Peterson and Betty Canoll and James Ellis, as well as his grandparents.
Mike graduated with honors from Escalon High School and went on to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for two years, focusing on Animal Sciences. He began a long and successful career with Kenai Drilling Ltd.,in 1974 as well as several other oil companies.
Mike’s passions extended far beyond his work. He enjoyed scuba diving, camping trips, fishing in Alaska and found a thrill in racing motorcycle enduros. A natural pilot, he earned his pilot’s license while still in high school and cherished the freedom of flying his own plane. He flew to Alaska in 2018, having a great adventure. H was a member of Training Wheels Motorcycle Club for over 20 years and a member of St. Patrick’s Parish family in Arroyo Grande.
Above all else, Mike loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering dedication, and the love he shared with all those close to him.
