Marion "Mary Lou" Frederick Obituary

Mary Lou Frederick went home to be with her Lord, Whom she served all her life, on June 24, 2020. She was born on February 13, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio to Claude and Henrietta Loucks. Mary Lou graduated from Bennett High School in Buffalo, New York in 1945. Afterward she attended Buffalo Bible Institute and then Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo from which she graduated in 1952. Immediately after graduation she sailed to India under International Missions (now Christar) and for the next 37 years served as a missionary nurse and teacher there. She continued her education during her furloughs.

In 1990 she married Edward Frederick, a former General Director of International Missions and lived in Arroyo Grande for the next 30 years. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Frederick, two step-daughters, Melanie Register and Muriel Hahn. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother, Claude and Henrietta Loucks, a sister Claudia Loucks, a brother, Howard Loucks, two step brothers, Alfred Zipf and Irvin Briggs, and a step sister, Beata Hefler. She is survived by three step-daughters Margaret Lange, Marilyn Walden, and Jean Romin. She has 17 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great and great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by two nephews, Dale and Carl Loucks, and a niece, Carol Ann Briscoe. She has 3 step-nieces Nancy Sperling, Sue Rubin and Beata Gill.

Visitation will be at the Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch Ave. in Grover Beach on July 13th (Monday) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

A family service will be held at Grace Bible Church, where she was an active member for many years.

A public graveside funeral service will be held at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery at 12:30 P.M. on July 14th (Tuesday).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christar in Richardson, Texas or Grace Bible Church.
