Larry Allen Chastain is now resting peacefully. He passed away just two days shy of his 78th birthday at home, surrounded by his family and special dog.
He was a gentle and kind soul, who always worried about everyone else, never complaining despite his ongoing health struggles. He remained positive and focused on resolutions so he could bless us with many years we didn’t think we would have with him.
He was born and raised in Georgia and remained a southern boy at heart, even after relocating to California permanently in 1974. He spent his life working hard to provide for his family. He did this first by owning and operating an automotive repair business, then later opening his mustang restoration and parts business, where his true passion was. He loved classic mustangs, and had over 100 of them pass through his hands, owning 33 at one time.
He was a mentor to anyone he met who was interested in his vast knowledge and he developed many lasting friendships because of his willingness to help.
He was a man of his word, displaying kindness and patience always. To know him was to love him, and he had many lifelong friendships because of this. He was a great listener, especially since he lived in a house with 3 women. Although he could be a man of few words at times, he never missed an opportunity for a wise crack, even if we thought he was asleep in his recliner, he was always listening.
Not only was he a great friend, but most importantly, he was the best Husband, Brother, Dad, Granddaddy and Uncle. Our loss is immeasurable, but so is the love he left within us.
