Joy D. Cox

Arroyo Grande, CA

Joy Darlene Cox was born September 24, 1935 in Santa Paula, California to Lewis R. Stone and Etta B. Stone. Joy grew up in Fillmore, California attending both Elementary and High School. After graduation she worked as a bookkeeper for the local branch of Bank of America. During this time, she met and married - the love of her life, Edward Cox on September 4, 1954.

After living in Ventura, Oxnard, California they moved to Lompoc California and in1964 moved to Arroyo Grande. They raised three children, Toni Rae, Richard A and Andrew W - the three children provided nine grandchildren and ultimately 23 great grandchildren. Joy was attested by her children as being a wonderful, caring, and loving Mother and Grandmother.

Joy in her middle years worked as a clerical person for Madonna Construction Co, Secretary to the Local Carpenters Union and culminating her employment years with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

Joy loved to travel and see new places. Together she and husband Ed visited the countries of England, Ireland and Scotland, Germany, The Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Spain, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, China, and Canada

Joy was a Christian Believer and with husband Ed were members of the First Baptist Church of Arroyo Grande - now Berean Bible Church, and Bethel Baptist Church of Grover Beach. The churches provided their children with a Christian Education while allowing Joy and Ed to use their God provided gifts of service to the fellowship of Believers and to the community.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Arroyo Grande, Cemetery May 31, 2023, at One PM - Pastor Eric Swanson of Berean Bible Church will officiate.
