Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, John Alvin Fielder of Grover Beach passed away April 26, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born November 12, 1939, in Delano, CA to Alvin and Lura Fielder. He attended Delano High School where he was recently inducted into the Football Hall of Fame for Outstanding Offensive Guard.
Generous and caring, John provided for his family and was known for his strong work ethic. He took pride in building Sierra Body Shop with his wife, a local family business. He was a pillar of the community, involved in the Arroyo Grande Optimist Club, the Oceano Elks Lodge, and supported many local organizations. He was passionate about people and loved good conversations.
John enjoyed spending time on the lake with his family and friends and loved giving a wild inner tube ride. He enjoyed dancing the jitterbug and the waltz with his wife, working alongside his sons, and watching his grandchildren grow through the years. He adored all animals and doted over his fur babies. He was a builder and creator, jumping at the opportunity for a good project.
John was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Lura, grandchildren Castin and Kobi, and son-in-law Mike. John is survived by his wife Linda, children Butch (Carolyn), Michael (Angela), and Audra, grandchildren Cherisa (Jarod), Bailey, Michelle, Aryton, Michael John, and great-grandchildren Maelyn and Myla, and sister Gnell (William).
Family and friends are invited to the service on Saturday, May 18 at 10:30 am at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Arroyo Grande where we hope to hear and share stories that celebrate John’s life. Light refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center.
