She was raised on a local dairy in Edna Valley and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1962 where she was a cheerleader and then helped put on many of the class reunions. Joanne later had her daughter Jill Miller & son John Miller and raised both of them in Arroyo Grande. She had many jobs in her hometown but retired after 30 plus years of working in the oil industry.
She is survived by her son John Miller Jr., granddaughter Jessica Jackson, husband Devonte Jackson and granddaughter Leah Miller, her grandson John Deagan, great grandsons Kaydyn and Kierce Jackson, brother John Bettencourt and sister Jane Goodwin.
On October 10, 2021 she was reunited in Heaven with her parents, John and Betty Bettencourt and her daughter Jill Miller.
Joanne loved being with her friends and family at BBQ’s, attending family parties and Portuguese celebrations, all of her lifelong bunco friends and camping crew. She loved spending time with her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She could never get enough of the Holidays, making her pea salad with shrimp or broccoli salad at every party, collecting Precious Moments for her shelves, turtles, Tweetie bird, Hallmark movies, reading Karen Kingsbury books, card games and attending local sporting events. She had the passion for art and painting, growing beautiful roses in her yard, and watching the wild birds eat from her many feeders.
Our family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to her friends and family who are gathered together to remember her & celebrate the beautiful life she lived with us.
