Jeannine Sexton passed away peacefully on June 13, 2022. She was born in 1923 to her parents, Georges and Marie Chaussard in Paris, France. She spent her childhood growing up in Paris with her sister Pierrette and visiting England, until she was called back to France during World War II.
It was in Paris during World War II that she met her husband, Joseph Sexton, an MP in the United States Army. They were married in Paris in December 1945. Together they moved to El Centro, CA, before settling in Grover Beach in 1947. There they raised two daughters, Patricia and Evelyn.
Jeannine believed in "joie de vivre" – the joys of life. She enjoyed drawing, crocheting, sewing, collecting elephants, and playing Yahtzee. Ever the curious mind, she loved to read and learn new things her entire life. She loved to travel with her husband, family, and their beloved dog, Taffy.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Kirk, grand-daughters, Krystal Kirk and Kimberly Kirk, niece, Maud Violin, great grandson, Joseph Ortega, his wife, Connie Ortega and their son Caleb, great grandson, Nickolas Ortega, and grandson in law, Robert Ortega. Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sexton, daughter, Patricia Coehlo-Martin, grand-daughter, Nicole Ortega, parents, Georges and Marie Chaussard, sister, Pierrette Violin, brother-in-law André Violin and son in law, Frank "Larry" Kirk.
A graveside service will be held at Arroyo Grande Cemetery at 10am on Wednesday June 22, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA in her honor at www.aspca.org.
