Janet Marie Estes Douglas passed away on December 31, 2024 at the age of 80, due to complications from a decades long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Janet was born on March 28, 1944 in Everett, WA. She was the daughter of Norman and Esther Estes and the sister of Bob Estes. Janet had a wonderful life of being kind to all others, friendly, and would go out of her way to help someone in need. After graduating from Pacific Lutheran University, she later obtained a Masters of Arts in Education and then spent several years as an elementary school teacher. She was well liked, not only by the children, but by their parents as well. Janet Estes married Mike Douglas in 1965. She then had her first child Robert, in 1969 and her second son, John, in 1971.
Before Multiple Sclerosis, Janet loved to play tennis, take walks with her friends and faithfully serve as an elder and deacon at her church. Her faith was a guiding force in her life. One of her great loves was animals, particularly dogs. Janet and her husband Mike always had a dog that was part of the family.
Janet was proud of raising her two sons, whom she poured herself into. She was equally pleased with her 5 Grandchildren: Corryn, Madison, Shane, Ryan, and Dylan. Janet is survived by her faithful husband of 59 1/2 years, her two sons, her 5 grandchildren and Jemma the chocolate lab. Janet is deeply loved and will be deeply missed. She is free of pain and her joy is now complete.
Respecting Janet’s wishes, there will be a small, private, family service TBD.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to ASPCA (leading the fight against animal cruelty and homelessness) in Janet’s name, who loved and cherished animals.
