James Abel Garcia

On Sunday, September 11, 2022, James Abel Garcia, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 86 surrounded by family. 

Jim loved fishing, playing golf, running and being with family and friends. He was a civil rights activist championing human rights causes in his home state of Colorado and then in California. He served in the coast guard as a radioman and later earned a bachelors’ degree in political science. He worked in public administration for most of his professional career. Jim had a kind heart and cared for many rescue cats and dogs.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Martha. He is survived by his daughter Dominica, son Joaquin and grandson Miles. He loved time spent with siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jim’s wishes are for no memorial services but that when together, family and friends reminisce about good times.
