Herbert Michael Hart (Herb), age 81, surrounded by his family passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, in Arroyo Grande.

Herb was born on April 6, 1942 in Compton, California. He was the second of three sons to Richard and Rosie Hart. Herb was raised in Los Angeles and graduated from Cathedral High School. Herb attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College where he received his degree in electrical engineering.  Herb was a Boy Scout and received the Silver Eagle Scout Award. Herb raced boats on the Colorado River and was an avid water skier. He also liked a good game of golf with his friends.

In 1968, Herb was called to duty to serve in the Army. He was stationed in Alaska to assist in setting up missile silos. After a year, Herb requested to be sent to Vietnam to stand beside his friends and better serve his country. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he began his career as an electrician. Herb married his first wife, Florence Lomen in 1972 where they raised their family in Eagle Rock. In 1979, Herb, Florence and family moved to Arroyo Grande (Huasna Valley) where they bought an Apple Farm. In 1980, Herb started his own electrical business, H.M. Hart Electric.

After the death of his first wife, Florence, in 1994, Herb met Mona Soenksen five years later and they married in 1999.

Herb was known for helping wherever he could in his community and often quietly helped when he saw a need. Herb was involved in The People's kitchen, Meals on Wheels, Kiwanis, and St. John's Lutheran's Church. Herb was known to be an honorable man of his word, loved his family, was a good provider, a loyal friend and he loved God.

Herb is survived by his wife, Mona Hart, two daughters, Kimberely Martin and Elizabeth Howard, stepson, Rick Kueffer, two stepdaughters, Emilee Soenksen and Jillian Delmore, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
