Helen Diane Nott
June 20, 1948 ~ November 28, 2023 (age 75) 75 Years Old
Helen Diane Nott (Goldman) passed away peacefully at her home in Arroyo Grande, California on November 28, 2023 at 6 P.M. after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s. Diane was a beautiful and loving soul who always cared for and nurtured others. She was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma in the summer of 1948 to Byron Tatlow and Helen Murray. Diane grew up in West LA day-dreaming about horses, oftentimes galloping around making ‘click-clack’ horse sounds as she dashed from place to place. She and her first husband, Bob Goldman, moved to San Luis Obispo to attend Cal Poly in 1971, then later moved to Templeton, and finally settled in a quiet downtown neighborhood in San Luis Obispo to raise their family. While raising two boys, Ben and Andy, Diane was active in the kid’s school, sports and extra-curricular activities. She even started a small typing business, Flying Fingers Typing Service, while raising the kids. She later started her career working in the Computer Science Department at Cal Poly SLO where she made many friends and supported students, helping them navigate their way to a degree. She then married her second husband, Richard Nott, and moved to Arroyo Grande.
Diane was as generous and thoughtful as they come. She would give you the shirt off her back, and if the sizing was off, you could count on her bringing you something she sewed, crafted, thrifted, or somehow frugally acquired the next time your paths crossed. Diane loved gardening and was an amazing cook, making her house warm and welcoming for all her guests.
Memorial services will be held at the Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach on January 19, 2024 at 11 AM. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to her son Andy Goldman at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided and please bring a story or two of how Diane touched your heart.
