Gary Charles Faucette, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. After facing several health challenges, he spent his final days in hospice care, embraced by the comfort of family.
Gary’s last and longest held career was in Family Law, where he served as a dedicated attorney in private practice for many years. As a member of the San Luis Obispo Bar Association, he was a pioneer in his field, introducing mediation to Family Law cases in the county—an approach that reflected his deep commitment to resolving conflicts with compassion and care. He was known for truly listening to his clients and advocating for their best interests. In the courtroom, Gary was remembered as a true “character”—sharp, witty, and one of a kind.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Dr. Terri Quinn, a clinical psychologist. Together for over 40 years, Gary and Terri shared not only a life but also a practice, working side by side for more than three decades.
Gary leaves behind five children:
Dr. Lindsey Faucette, a family practice physician and owner of SLO Health
Mark Faucette, who works in structural development for mental health and community service programs across California
Donna Faucette, who offers warmth and service through her work at California Fresh Market
Teri Rentner, a retired elementary school teacher with 35 years of dedication to education
Mike Faucette, a Texas-based rancher
He was a proud grandfather to Jake Rentner and wife Trina, Katelynn Rentner, Michaela Rentner Bourne and husband Beau, Hannah DalMolin, Russell DalMolin, Ruby Breen, and Leo Breen. He also cherished his great-grandchildren: Jay, Julian, and Levi Rentner, and Raen Bourne.
Gary and Terri shared a love for animals, especially their many dogs over the years. He is survived by their three Shih Tzus: Sierra, Simba, and Heidi.
Gary had a deep love for tennis, a sharp wit, and a warm heart. He was deeply loved by family and friends alike and will be profoundly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Dinosaur Caves 2:00-5:00pm on May 24, 2025 In honor of Gary’s memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
