Fern Schlicht

Fern M. Schlicht passed away on January 13, 2023 at her home, assisted living Alder House, in Arroyo Grand California. Fern was 6 days off of her 100th birthday, January 19th 1923-January 13th 2023. She was born in Aurora Illinois. Her parents were Walter and Laura Boudreau. Preceding Fern in her death was her husband Raymond J Schlicht and her daughter Laurie Rouschalue. Fern moved to Arroyo Grande in 1977 with her husband and son Jeff Schlicht where she resided the rest of her life. Fern was always active in each community she lived. In Illinois she was a life member of the Parent Teachers Association, active in Blessed Sacrament church and wrote for the local newspaper, The Beacon News. Service was a way of Ferns life in Arroyo Grande as well as President of 5 Cities Christian Women's organization, founder of the Arroyo Grande Food Bank and an active member at St. Patrick’s Church.
    Surviving members of Fern’s family is her son Jeff Schlicht and his husband of 23 years Arturo Rodriguez residing in Sedona Arizona and their two children from a previous marriage Matthew and Lily Schlicht. Fern’s Grandaughter, Karen Geraghty with her husband Kevin reside in Arlington Ill.  They have 7 children and 5 grandchildren. 
    In Ferns long life she had many friends. Appreciation goes out to Alder House of Arroyo Grande where Fern lived for almost 13 years and Central Coast Hospice that supported her in her final months.
