Edward Sergio Rico

In memory of Edward (Eddie) Sergio Rico of Oceano, California who passed away on September 25, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born on December 30, 1961, at Marian Hospital in Santa Maria, California to Catalino Rico and Felicia Soriano Rico.

Eddie grew up in Oceano, California. He attended all the local elementary schools and graduated in 1980 from Arroyo Grande High School. He then went on to receive his AA Degree in Administration of Justice from Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo.

Eddie was known for his generous spirit, kindness and his passion for sports and gardening. He held various positions at Pismo State Beach, San Luis Obispo Regional Airport and lastly Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

He was a devoted brother, uncle, cousin, and great friend to all who knew him. He was also a devout Christian.

The many memories of Eddie will be cherished by his family and friends. He is survived by his siblings: Donna Brown (Dan); Angie Rico-Giese (Glenn); Janet Bacerra (Max) Rose Sapigao (Ed); Lino Rico and Cathy Erwin (Kim). Also survived by his nieces and nephews: Jacqueline Sapigao; Madeline Sapigao; Madison Erwin; Jazmin Rico Vlasnik (Jefferson),  Amara, Aria; Sean Sapigao (Jessica), Bryson, Zion, Spencer Brown, and Matthew Erwin. Eddie was preceded in death by his brother James Rico and his parents.

The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Marshall-Spoo  Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch Avenue, Grover Beach, CA 93433. (805) 489-5552.
