Eduardo Alvarez

Eduardo Alvarez was born on December 6, 1988, in San Luis Obispo, California, and spent his entire life rooted in the communities of San Luis Obispo County. He grew up in Arroyo Grande, attending Harloe Elementary, Paulding Middle School, and Arroyo Grande High School (AGHS).

From a young age, Eduardo found joy in sports, especially soccer. He began playing AYSO soccer at the kindergarten level and was frequently selected for All-Star teams. His dedication and talent led him to play with the Condor club soccer team, followed by both the junior varsity and varsity soccer teams at AGHS. He was also a skilled baseball player who spent many seasons in Arroyo Grande Valley Little League.

As an adult, Eduardo continued to give back to the sport he loved. He coached his daughter Olivia’s soccer team for two years and assisted in coaching his daughter Izabella’s team, offering steady guidance and encouragement to the young players he worked with. This year, he served as a division coordinator and Board Member for AYSO, reflecting his ongoing commitment to youth soccer and his community.

Eduardo built a strong and diverse career. From 2014 to 2021 he worked as a cell tower builder for Total Telco Specialist, a role that allowed him to apply his technical skills and work in the telecommunications industry. Most recently, he served as the Lead District Maintenance professional for the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District, where he applied his leadership and problem-solving skills. He took pride in his work and valued the close-knit camaraderie of his crew.

Outside of work, Eduardo was a devoted father, husband, son, and brother. A committed 49ers fan, he loved attending and watching games, especially when sharing them with his daughters, Olivia and Izabella, and with his cousins. He enjoyed food and the adventure of trying new things, and he treasured time spent with his family. More than anything, his family—especially his daughters—were the purpose and center of his life.

Faith was an important foundation for Eduardo. He was baptized, received his First Communion, was confirmed, and was married at St. Patrick’s Parish in Arroyo Grande. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus there, finding community in his parish.

Eduardo passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Grover Beach, California, at the age of 36. He lived in Arroyo Grande at 175 Alder Street, surrounded by the community that had known him throughout his life.

Eduardo is survived by his loving family: his parents, Sergio and Romelia (Iglesias) Alvarez, his wife, Annette (Blake) Alvarez, and his daughters, Olivia (7) and Izabella (4). He is also survived by his two brothers: Raúl Alvarez and his wife Katrina (Cutelli), and their children Anastasia, Natalia, Sebastian, and Jerome; and Sergio Abraham Alvarez and his wife Jeannine (Torres), and their children Zoë, Nathaniel, and Elena. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers who will miss him deeply.

He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his generous and loyal spirit, his strong work ethic, and the deep love he carried for his girls.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 11 at 4 p.m. at Marshall-Spoo sunset Funeral Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 12 at St. Patrick’s Church at 11 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the mass at The Hayashi Ranch, 2460 Gracia Way in Arroyo Grande.

También fue un talentoso jugador de béisbol, participando en muchas temporadas en Arroyo Grande Valley Little League.

Como adulto, Eduardo continuó contribuyendo al deporte que amaba. Entrenó el equipo de fútbol de su hija Olivia durante dos años y ayudó a entrenar el equipo de su hija Izabella, ofreciendo guía constante y ánimo a los jóvenes jugadores. Este año sirvió como coordinador de división y miembro de la mesa directiva de AYSO, reflejando su compromiso con el fútbol juvenil y su comunidad.

Eduardo construyó una carrera sólida y diversa. De 2014 a 2021 trabajó como constructor de torres celulares para Total Telecommunications Specialist, un puesto que le permitió aplicar sus habilidades técnicas y trabajar en la industria de las telecomunicaciones. Más recientemente, se desempeñó como profesional principal de mantenimiento del distrito para el Distrito Escolar Santa Maria Joint Union High School, donde aplicó sus habilidades de liderazgo y resolución de problemas. Se enorgullecía de su trabajo y valoraba la camaradería cercana de su equipo.

Fuera del trabajo, Eduardo fue un padre, esposo, hijo y hermano dedicado. Aficionado a los 49ers, disfrutaba asistir y ver los juegos, especialmente cuando los compartía con sus hijas, Olivia e Izabella, y con sus primos. Disfrutaba la comida y la aventura de probar cosas nuevas, y atesoraba el tiempo con su familia. Más que nada, su familia—especialmente sus hijas—eran el propósito y centro de su vida.

La fe fue una base importante para Eduardo. Fue bautizado, recibió su Primera Comunión, fue confirmado y se casó en la Parroquia de San Patricio en Arroyo Grande. Fue miembro de los Caballeros de Colón allí, encontrando comunidad en su parroquia.

Eduardo falleció el sábado 29 de noviembre de 2025 en Grover Beach, California, a los 36 años. Vivió en Arroyo Grande en 175 Alder Street, rodeado de la comunidad que lo conoció durante toda su vida.
