Derrick Blake Nelson

Derrick Blake Nelson was born April 21,1981 to Blake and Joy Nelson in San Luis Obispo, CA.  Derrick went to be with Jesus on January 17, 2024. Derrick was born with Cerebral Palsy and was in Special Education Schools in San Luis Obispo County until he was 21. After that he attended VTC (Vocational Training Center). He loved  his teachers and all the outings to the pool, bowling, movies, and out sightseeing. 

Derrick loved life to the fullest. He delighted in big trips to Disneyland...his favorite place on earth! He thoroughly loved the fireworks there and on each 4th of July. He also loved to go watch the trains in Grover Beach. But Derrick was content to just stay at home playing with all his toys. He was a child at heart and always had a smile and contagious laugh. To know Derrick was to love Derrick. Without words he showed his love by his snuggles, kisses, hugs and laughs. He will be greatly missed. 

Derrick is survived by is mother Joy Simmons, step father George Simmons, father Blake Nelson, step mother Kim Nelson, brother Tyler Nelson and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
