Debra Lee Steil

Debra Lee Steil passed away after a long battle with cancer on June 16, 2022. She was born Debra Lee Minor, in San Luis Obispo on March 7, 1953. She attended Arroyo Grande High School and graduated with the class of 1971. She then attended Cuesta College, earning her A.A. degree. She married her high school boyfriend Bob in October of 1972. Their son Chad was born in 1975 and daughter Mandy in 1979.

Debbie spent her life in Arroyo Grande and was involved in Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. She and Bob were also active in the 5 Cities Jaycees, where they made lifelong friends. Debbie was the secretary at Paulding Middle School, retiring in 2009 to spend more time with her grandchildren. She loved her family and friends. There is nothing that she wouldn’t do to help them when they needed it.

She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Nacimiento Lake, traveling to visit family, and camping with her family and her “USTA Could” friends. Debbie also loved her monthly outings with her “M & M” girls.

Debbie is survived by her husband Bob Steil; son, Chad Steil; daughter, Mandy Carter and son-in-law Matt; father, Eddie Minor; brother, Scott Minor and sister-in-law Tracy; and her five grandchildren Kandyce, Kody, Jamison, Karson, and Kami. She was preceded in death by her mother Judy.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life that will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 2 p.m. at the Arroyo Grande Hall Association (Portuguese Hall) 707 Huasna Rd., Arroyo Grande.

Plan on staying for a luncheon BBQ that follows immediately and bring a dessert to share if so inclined.

In lieu of flowers Debbie would like donations to be made to Dignity Hospice or the Jacqualyn Palchak Cancer Fund of PCR Oncology.
