David St. Denis Obituary

David Charles St. Denis, born on August 31, 1942, went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2025 in his home of Arroyo Grande, Ca. with his sons by his side.
Dave was born in Los Angeles, Ca., but moved to Arroyo Grande at a very young age. He went through the Lucia Mar Unified School District, graduating from Arroyo Grande High School. As a young man Dave went to work for Porter’s Frozen Foods in Grover Beach, Ca. Porter’s was taken over by Glencoe in San Luis Obispo and eventually purchased by Sysco Food Services where he received numerous top sales awards. He essentially held one job for over 40 years before retiring from Sysco. Dave was known very well throughout the local food service industry and impacted many lives along the way.
Dave was very involved in his community. He worked many years helping to develop and improve the local baseball fields at the Soto Sports Complex. He volunteered many years for the Arroyo Grande High School Booster’s, barbecuing for the AGHS Eagle’s Football games. Dave was honored to be awarded the Booster of the Year in 2017. He also started a Dutch Oven cooking crew that donated their services to many different local fundraisers in the community. He also donated his famous Cheesecake’s to various community fundraisers as well.
Dave raised two amazing sons as a single dad, Jeffrey Scott St. Denis and Sean David St. Denis. He worked tirelessly to provide for his sons, with the help of his family. Dave was beyond proud of his sons, both of which served in the US Military. His pride and joy continued to grow as his family grew. Dave had two daughter-in-laws, Kitty and Patty, as well as 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, with his 12th great grand child on the way. His children and grandchildren were his entire world. He would attend every school function, every sporting event, every birthday party, and anything that he could to celebrate his grandchildren. He baked each person’s favorite cake for their birthdays every year. He never stopped pouring love in to his family, which he was so proud of.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Ellen St. Denis and his father Joseph St. Denis. He is survived by his sons, Jeff St. Denis and Sean St. Denis, and his daughter in laws Kitty St. Denis and Patty St. Denis. His grand children Amanda, Sydney, Trystin, (George) Meghan, Brooke, (Brady), Sean, (Kate,) Grace, (Michael), and his great grandchildren, Dalton, Reagan, Scarlett, Hudson, Malcolm, Kinsley, Vivienne, Klayton, Lennon, Charles, Polly, and Baby Muth. His siblings Roger St. Denis (Shirley), Warren St. Denis (Lupe) and JoEllen Childers (Jack) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 3rd, 2026 at the Arroyo Grande Hall Association at 12 o’clock.
