David Alan Nath

David Alan Nath passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on Tuesday
night, June 14, 2022, surrounded by his wife and two sons.

David was born on November 19, 1951 in Riceville, Iowa, the son of
Walter Nath and Kathryn Kempf, youngest brother to Ray and Richard.
David and his brothers were raised on the family corn and pig farm in
Riceville.  They had a work horse on the farm, which David took care of,
beginning his lifelong love of horses.

David graduated from Riceville High School in 1969 and from Iowa State
University with a degree in horticulture in 1973. Soon after he moved to
California working for a nursery creating hybrid rose varietals. During
a customer appreciation event, he met a florist’s daughter, Lynda
Visser, and fell head over heals in love. After asking Lynda to marry
him dozens of times, Lynda finally asked David to marry her on April
Fools Day, 1979. They were married on March 8, 1980, and enjoyed 42
years of marriage together.

David eventually joined Lynda in the family flower business in Anaheim,
growing Visser’s Florist into the largest florist in California. There
they taught their two boys the importance of an honest hard days’
work. He went on to become a successful real estate investor, retiring
on the Central Coast in 2008. He spent his retirement traveling the
world with his family and friends, riding his horses Harley and Blue,
riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, playing golf with his friends,
and touching many people’s lives, giving countless hours and money to
various charitable causes.

David was a founding member of the Padre Junipero Serra Riders, also
known as the Las Tortugas, a group that preserves Western values and
cowboy traditions. He rode on horseback with his brothers of the saddle
for 46 consecutive years, since 1976.

David was an incredible husband, father, and grandfather. He selflessly
gave his time to encourage and support his family. He helped coach his
sons’ sports teams, and never missed a single game, even flying around
the country to support his oldest son at every one of his college
football games.

David was an inspiration to his family and encouraged them to follow
their hearts, dream big, aim high, and work hard. He taught them to
always be honest and do the right thing, especially when no one is
looking, because a man’s honor is a gift to himself. He taught them to
always be kind and generous to others, to share their fortune with those
less fortunate, because giving is its own reward.

David will live forever through his many accomplishments, his good deeds
that reflect his immense character, his lessons to his children and
grandchildren that reflect his deep wisdom, the awesome experiences he
shared with loved ones, and the memories of him that will be cherished
and summoned by friends and family forever. He is survived by his wife
Lynda, sons Ryan and Jeff, daughter-in-laws Danielle and Ashlyn,
granddaughter London, and grandsons Kasey, and Liam.
