Daniel Paul Erickson

We are sad to announce the passing of Daniel Erickson, age 55, of Arroyo Grande. He passed away of an Aortic Aneurysm, on September 22, 2023. Daniel (Danny) was born in Redlands, California, the son of Suzanne Hanes and the late Daniel Hanes, Jr. Daniel was adopted at age four by Kernie Erickson, when his mother remarried.

He is survived by his son Trey Erickson; mother Suzanne Erickson; father Kernie Erickson; sister Anna Erickson Griffin, her husband Bryan, their children Isaiah and Elsa; former wife Jennifer Erickson; and half sister Sara Hanes-Carel.

Daniel graduated from Capistrano Valley High School and Cosmetology school in Orange County, California where he grew up, and began working for several hair salons in the area. He, his wife and son, later relocated to Arroyo Grande, California to be near his grandparents, and he was the owner of several Barber Shops in the area, Mesa Barber & Grand Barber. Danny was a talented musician, teaching himself to play guitar and piano, and soon started a band called Halcyon. With his wife’s help, they were able to play locally as well as at well known venues such as the Whiskey-a-Go Go in Los Angeles and the Coach House in Orange County. During these years Danny energetically pursued his involvement with the loves of his life….his family, barbering, music, golf, and basketball. He loved golfing with his grandfather at Vandenberg Air Force base and other local courses, and taught Trey to golf at an early age. He also loved the Lakers, and rarely missed a game during basketball season. Danny had a deeply emotional, sensitive and insightful nature, which he invested in his closest relationships, in his songwriting, and his faith in God.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Trey Erickson; mother Suzanne Erickson; father Kerne Erickson; sister Anna Griffin, her husband Bryan, their children Isaiah & Elsa; former wife and mother of Trey, Jennifer Erickson; half-sister Sara Hanes-Carol; significant other, Kimberly Bourne, and others who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on
January 27, 2024 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
