Clarence Rea Obituary

Clarence Albert Rea

We said "goodbye" to our sweet father, Clarence Albert Rea, on October 2, 2018 at 97 ½ years old.  Dad was a truly amazing person!  He was a loving father, grandfather, favorite uncle, mentor to his children, sincere friend to many, successful businessman, tremendous mechanic and “engineer” who could build or fix anything, patient teacher who taught his son and daughters how to do their own repairs, and a joyful, happy man with a beautiful smile on his face. He was always ready for fun.  Dad was born March 12, 1921 in Bakersfield, CA, 2nd child of parents William Gardell Rea and Esther Evelyn Denio.  Dad grew up in Bakersfield and attended Kern Union High, class of 1939, enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1940, served in North Africa and Pacific Theater.  Dad was a survivor of Iwo Jima, was decorated with various medals and Purple Heart for his valor.  After his service in WWII, he returned to Bakersfield where he was a member of the Bakersfield Sheriff’s Office.  He married Florence Joan Giminiani in 1950. Dad later owned and operated Clarence Rea Chevron Service at Brundage and Chester Avenues.  In 1968 our family moved to Grover Beach when Dad worked for Valley Industrial Services developing and overseeing the new coastal territory. Dad is survived by his brother Marvin Rea; children Jennifer, Karen, Denise, Bill; grandchildren Calah and Benjamin; many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.  Dad was predeceased by our mother Florence in 2012; his sisters Dorothy Parsons, Inez Moore, Vivian Rea, and brother William G Rea. We will have a Celebration of Life on Nov 15 in Pismo Beach.  Please RSVP at 805-286-7022 by Nov 4.  "We are all here on this earth for the perfect amount of time ~ and we are all just here for a visit..." -(J. Stone)
