Clarence Forsythe, Jr. Obituary

Clarence Harold Forsythe Jr.

Harold Forsythe died suddenly at his Oceano home on March 13 with his daughter by his side.

A retired master carpenter, the Bay Areas’s BART System was Harold’s first Class A construction project. He spent many years building launch pads at Vandenberg AFB and many more on the building of Diablo Canyon. Harold also built many homes before a shattered leg would force early retirement.

Just 75 years young, Harold longed for the next laugh. He had a sharp tongue but usually wielded it for good. If he did not like someone, it occasionally came out. That’s what happened back in the mid-70s when, as he drove by the home of a stranger, he spotted a foe and stopped to fight.

The stranger turned out to be Jerry Silkwood and the two became so close that Harold often referred to Jerry as brother. Harold’s younger brother Eddie had been kiolled years earlier by a drunk driver. Eddie’s turned out to be just the first of many deaths Harold would mourn. All too often, he was there at the side of the passing loved one.

An avid Bible reader, the resurrection to life eternal here on earth was a prospect Harold both longed for and held dear. He understood Jehovah’s plans to restore the planet to the Eden-like paradise it had once been, and to restore to life those loving at heart.

Along with Eddie, Harold hoped and prayed to once again see his wife, Darlene, parents Clarence and Addie Lee, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins alike.

Harold is survived by and sorely missed by his daughter Shellie and her husband Steve. He will be deeply missed by the entire Silkwood family who treated him like Uncle Harold; by his Floridian friend Jim Denton and by his Chihuahua Scooter.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery by the lumber yard.
