Chesterlyn Becerra Obituary

Chesterlyn Janet Becerra, 75, passed away June 23, 2021 at her home peacefully surrounded by family.

Chesterlyn was born July 14, 1945 in San Luis Obispo. She lived in Shell Beach throughout her youth, and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1963. At age 19, she married her high school sweetheart John Becerra, and they have been married for 56 loving years. They lived together in Arroyo Grande where they started their family and have lived there all of their lives.

Chesterlyn is survived by her husband John, sons Little John and Brian, daughter Jana and husband Anthony; Grandchildren Ashley and husband Johnny, Alisha and husband Jacob, and Chase Becerra; Great grandchildren Abigail and Sawyer; Brother Bruce and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Maxine and Chester Blair.

Chesterlyn and her husband were very involved with the Little league baseball, Babe Ruth, Youth Football, and Girls Softball in Arroyo Grande in the 70’s and 80’s. She was the secretary of Babe Ruth and Girls Softball and kept score for many of the baseball games. Chesterlyn worked for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processing Center for 30 years as an associate clinical director. She loved all her students and deeply enjoyed teaching them different ways of learning and reading. She was a member of the Quota club of San Luis Obispo, which raised money for the community, and for families and kids in need. Chesterlyn was a registrar for Jazzercise and attended classes weekly for over 36 years. She also played bunko with the same group of best friends for 55 years. She was truly blessed by all her amazing friends, whose memories with them I know she kept close to her heart.

Chesterlyn was a loving mother, wife, grandma, and great-grandma. She was always full of joy and never complained about a single thing. At any family gathering, you can guarantee that she had every person in the room laughing, smiling, and feeling so loved. She was a very strong woman, in who we all admired. She even kept up with her great grand kids and their endless amount of energy, and took care of them often-with a huge smile on her face. One of her favorite things to do was to go camping at Lopez Lake with her family and friends, who meant the world to her. She enjoyed going out with all of her best girlfriends for lunch, where they would catch up and enjoy each other’s company often. She will forever be our beautiful angel. We will miss her so incredibly much.

Chesterlyn will have a rosary held in her honor Monday, July 5th at 6 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Arroyo Grande. The funeral service will be held July 6, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 501 Fair Oaks Ave, in Arroyo Grande. A private interment will be held for family following the service. There will be a celebration of life at St. Joseph’s Church, 298 S. Thomson Ave, in Nipomo at 12:30pm.
