Charles Douglas King affectionally know as “Danny” born September 6, 1948 and left us May 2, 2019. Survived by wife Linda McClure-King of 24 years, Aunt (mother) Delores “Tookie” Branham, Son’s Daniel King & Jason Arnold daughter-in-law Angela Arnold, daughter April Christine, Grandson Jayden Arnold, Granddaughters Sophie & Olivia “Olie” Great-grandchildren Jayden Marie Arnold (JM), Kenzi Storm Arnold, Zyva Bair Arnold & Lucas Stone Sirois, brother Billy Branham, sisters Deborah Class & Tami Branham, nieces & nephews Bud, Brandi (Ruby Jean), Scot, Christal, Chloe Jean, Colt, Ayla and numerous other family members.

Metals and Awards: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster) Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award).
Military Education: Drill Sergeant School, NCO Academy
Biggest Accomplishment in Life: June 20, 1969 he risked his life when he came out of a safe vehicle when his M-16 rifle jammed while engaging with the enemy. His brothers in arms where in extreme danger while they were being shot at many killed or wounded when Pvt. Charles King picked up a second rifle engaging the enemy until he was finally wounded and airlifted to safety. His quick action and heroic bravery saved many lives that day. He spent over 9 months in the hospital, but said he would do it all over again if necessary.

Full military honors will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1pm at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel corner of 13th and Longbranch, Grover Beach, CA.
A celebration of life will follow at the Ramona Gardens corner of 10th and Ramona, Grover Beach. Music by Charlie McNeal and others. Anyone wishing to bring a dish is welcome.
