Carolyn Jean (DeCarlo) Huffine, 85, passed away on January 3, 2025. She was born and grew up in the San Fernando Valley, a proud granddaughter of early 20th century Italian immigrants. Carolyn and her late husband, Ken, married 58 years at the time of his passing, raised three daughters in Northridge, California. She was a Blue Bird and Campfire Girl leader, room mother in their elementary school years, and passionately creative mom to her three daughters.
Carolyn grew up a fan of the minor league baseball team, The Hollywood Stars, and when the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to LA in 1958, she became a zealous lifelong fan of the LA Dodgers. Carolyn worked for and retired from Disney Studios in Burbank, and in 1994 she and Ken moved into the forever home that they built in Arroyo Grande.
In their retirement years they traveled to many places in their RV and made close friends in their new community. Carolyn and Ken became fixtures as volunteers at the Arroyo Grande Hospital, the Arroyo Grande Police Department and the South County Historical Society. They loved living on the Central Coast and treasured hosting gatherings of family and friends in their inviting home. Carolyn cherished spending time tending their garden and was proud to be the recipient of the Arroyo Grande In Bloom Garden of Distinction Award in 2007. Until the time of her passing, Carolyn enjoyed being a 20+ year active member of a local Bunco group with one of her daughters.
Carolyn will forever be remembered for her incredible warmth, creativity and wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her three daughters, Lori Keep (Gary), Julie Hansen (Dana) and Nancy Stafford (Dan), her nephew Glenn (Debbie), niece Katherine (Mark), nephew John (Zena), nephews Mark (Jenise) and Keith (Tracy), niece Susan and cousins Bill, Debra, Joan and Janice. She is also survived by her six grandchildren whom she deeply loved: Jeffrey, Erik (Madi), Carlie (John), Abbie, Melissa and Danny and her granddogs Nellie, Rosie and Stevie Nicks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation or the South County Historical Society.
