Birgitta Ostberg – Beeman “Bee”
February 26, 1944 – May 28, 2020
Birgitta Ostberg-Beeman “Bee” was born on February 26, 1944 to Karen Ingaborg Hansson and Arthur Villham Berg. Unable to care for her, they placed her for adoption with Karl Torsten Ostberg and Agnes Ophelia (Loven). In 1949 She emigrated to the United States with her parents. They made their way to Los Angeles, CA, where they joined with friends and family who had also emigrated.
Bee married William L. Beeman “Bill” on February 16, 1968 at Del Ray Church in California.. The next year William was sent to Vietnam for a year. They welcomed their first child, Catherine Lyn Beeman (1970-1999). Catherine was born with Cerebral Palsy. Bee dedicated her life to the care of Catherine. She soon became close friends with some families at the UCLA School for Children with Special Needs. The rest of their children followed in the years to come. Michael Torsten Beeman (1972), David Lawrence Beeman (1978), and Elisabeth Marie Beeman-Roberts (1984).
Finally settling in Arroyo Grande, Ca Bee and Bill built their dream home on 5 acres of property where they have been since 1980. Long time members of Grace Bible Church in Arroyo Grande Bee was active in the weekly Women's Bible Study, and teaching the 2 year old's Sunday school class.
Bee was known for her homemade bread, kindness towards everyone and open door. No matter what time of the day (or night) friends and her kids friends' were welcome. Be it just for a cup of coffee, a meal, or a place to stay; for one night or for a few years. There was always room for one more. She spent many years as a care provider or children with special needs.
Bee was able to connect with her birth mother Karen Ingaborg. Through many letters, phone calls and a few visits to Sweden. They were able to build a relationship. Karen Ingaborg married and had a son, Sigurd Tang. She loved her Swedish heritage. She loved afternoon coffee with cake, friends and good conversation (Fika - in Swedish)
Bee passed on from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father early in the morning on May 28,2020. Much loved by family and friends. My her memory be a blessing.
Preceded in death by her parents: (Adopted) Karl Torsten Ostberg, Agnes Ophelia Ostberg, Catherine Lyn Beeman – Daughter, and Karen Ingaborg Tang (biological mother).

Survived by William L. Beeman (husband of 52 Years). Her children: Michael T. Beeman, Amy Mora-Beeman, David L. Beeman, Yvonne Beeman and Elisabeth M. Beeman-Roberts. Grand Children: Christian M. Beeman and Sydney R. Beeman. Half-Brother: Sigurd Tang. Cousin: Eva Bjorkhager.

Memorial Service will be held at a future date due to current local health department restrictions.
