Astrid "Jo" Josephine Grassle

Astrid Josephine “Jo” Grassle (née Cobb) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and love, on January 15, 2026. She had just celebrated her 89th birthday on November 14, 2025.

Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar Grassle (2011), and her eldest son, Bill. She is lovingly remembered by her children Martin, Lisa, Nina, and Camille; her grandchildren Genevieve, Nikolas, Megan, Ryan, Lukas, and Michael; and her great-grandchildren.

Jo was a devoted woman of faith and an active member of Grace Bible Church in Arroyo Grande for many years. She dedicated much of her life to helping others, including volunteering as an animal rehabilitator with Pacific Wildlife Care, where she lovingly cared for countless animals, from birds and bats to raccoons, opossums, and skunks.

She found joy in growing and arranging flowers, painting and creating art, camping, and embracing life’s adventures. Above all, Jo’s greatest joy was her love for God and her family, especially her grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, strong faith, and the deep love she shared with everyone around her.
