Tim Thompson Obituary

Timothy Allen Thompson (60)
Tim passed away peacefully on March 13, 2019, with his family by his side. His passing came sudden, but in our hearts, he is home with the Lord and no longer in pain. He passed away at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

He was born on October 12, 1958, in Hammond Indiana, the son of Raymond & Delores Thompson. Tim graduated from Dos Pueblos High School. He and his brothers worked in restaurants growing up, something he always reflected on fondly. He & his older brother Dan both became Farmers Insurance Agents & Tim eventually retired from his insurance business after 25 years.

Tim married Patricia Boberg & they have a son Jeffrey, & a daughter Melanie. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it be around the dinner table, in a hot tub, or on a cruise ship. He is so proud of who they are & have become. Watching his children grow & thrive gave him the greatest joy.

He loved the beach, taking long walks just to think, and spending time with family & friends. He was beloved by two wonderful dogs, Dewie and Buddy, who brought him immense joy.

He was an avid bowler, enjoyed some serious competition between siblings. He was President of the Santa Barbara Bowling Association & very much a part of the Santa Barbara Bowing Festival for years.

In 2005 he moved to Solvang, shortly after he found himself spending time & volunteering at Del Sol & later Cariloha. He missed being around people & wanted to help, but also make people laugh, smile & just have fun. The interns he worked with loved his humor, laughter & gentleness.

He started Business to Business Networking & Solvang We the People. Through these businesses, he touched lots of people & was known as a gentle & kind happy person that smiled all the time and would stop to greet you on the street. He was until the very end a pure optimist.

He is survived by his son Jeffrey Thompson, daughter Melanie Phillips (Adrian), brother Tom Thompson (Cindy) sisters Patricia Moskowitz (Steven), Sandi Milby (Jon) sister in law Suzi Thompson (Daniel) brother in law Jesse Holder Jr. Stepfather Jay Potter, Aunts  Patricia Guiden & Marylou Crowley of Munster Indiana, nieces and nephews, & ex-wife  Patricia Thompson.

He is preceded in death by his Father Raymond, his Mother Delores, his Brother Daniel. We would like to thank the staff @ Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for taking care of him like he was their family member. Special thank you to Kailee (Thompson) Vitelli of Marshall Spoo  Sunset Funeral Chapel for bringing Tim home.

A Celebration of life will be held April 27th, 4-7 pm in Solvang. 1683 Copenhagen Dr. on the patio behind Cariloha. Known as the “ Bamboo Lounge” by Tim.
