Gordon Elbert Hayes

Gordon Hayes, 77, of Carrisa Plains, passed away January 21, 2019. Gordon was born
in 1941 in Chula Vista, CA, to Barney and Doris Hayes. He attended Cal Poly San Luis
Obispo and was a member of the Smooth Mouth Rendezvous Alumni Association.
Gordon was a member of the SLO County Cattlemen’s Association, the NRCHA, the
NCHA, AQHA and SLO County Farm Bureau. He was a past member of the Rancheros
Visitadores. Gordon was a renowned Silversmith. He owned and operated the
worldwide business “GH Bits of Silver” with his wife Colleen.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Colleen Hayes; sons, Wade (Susan)
and Clint Hayes; daughter, Staci Hayes; 2 grandsons, Ian and Reed Hayes;
sister Maxine Howes and 3 nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the Santa Margarita Ranch on March 3,
2019 at 11:00am. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall-Spoo
Sunset Funeral Chapel.
