Lieutenant Derrick Dean Taylor, known to friends and family as “Bo” or “Bodacious”, was born September 25, 1961. He was a resident of Oxnard, CA. At the age of 56, Bo was tragically taken from this life. Bo was born in California’s Bay Area in 1961. He was born to William and Delwin Taylor. Bo had two older brothers, Tim and Gregory. Bo married his wife Katrina on May 22, 1982. They were married for 25 years. Bo had two sons, Greg and Kyle. Through them, Bo had five grandchildren: Derek, Logan, Sophia, Zoey and Mason.
In his life, Bo exemplified the quest for excellence. Bo constantly strived to reach the highest levels in his private and official lives. Bo loved competition, sports, the outdoors and his family. He loved conversation, honesty, character and his country. His joy in life and continuous positive demeanor were both palpable and infectious to those around him. While being the consummate father and family man, Bo climbed to the rank of Lieutenant for the California Department of Corrections. During his 29-year career and his 33 years of being a parent, Bo was considered to be many things. He was a supervisor, teacher, coach, teammate, student, counselor, husband, brother, son, grandfather and friend.
There are not enough words to describe exactly who Lieutenant Derrick “Bo” Taylor was, or how much he meant to so many people. He was loved by many, respected by all, and will be missed always.
