Beverly (Bev) J. Weaver passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on January 12, 2019, in her home in Oceano; following an afternoon with her family by her side.
Born in Los Banos, CA in 1931, Beverly grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, graduating from Dos Palos High School. She worked as a secretary for Cal Oro Rice Coop prior to marrying Don Weaver in 1951 at Ft. Benning, GA. Don then went to Germany to serve his country with the Army, while Bev returned home to Dos Palos and worked for Bill and Ed Koda, who farmed sweet rice.
Don and Beverly celebrated 67 years of marriage 5 days prior to Don’s passing. They made their home in Oceano for 40+ years.
Beverly was a vibrant, amazing woman who wore many hats, always with an incredible smile while raising 2 children. She was “Mom Taxi” for every activity, Cub and Boy scouts, Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girls, Job’s Daughters, GA’s (Girls Auxiliary) and VBS (Vacation Bible School) at church. She was also very involved with PTA and wrote the school newsletters. The elementary school principal even got her to keep helping at the school though her children had gone on to junior high. Bev was on bowling teams and was always a high scorer, winning many trophies.
Beverly was partnered with her husband Don running the wood business, and the Corvair business; her skills all encompassing.
She was actively involved in her church, Central Coast Baptist in Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande Women’s Club, and Eastern Star where she was awarded the Dr. Rob Morris Award for service.
Bev is survived by her daughter Donna (David) Shaffer; grandson Robert (Maria) Jones; great granddaughters Kayla, Karly and Zia; along with cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Don and their son, William “Bill”.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, February 1st at 1:00 p.m. at Shadow Mountain Central Coast Campus, formerly Central Coast Baptist Church, in Grover Beach, CA.
Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall-Spoo Sunset Chapel. Burial will take place at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery for Veteran’s in Gustine, on February 20, 2019, reuniting Bev with Don on their 68th anniversary.
