Andrew "Drew" Richard Valdez

It is with great sadness, compassion, and gratitude for the life he shared with loved ones that the family of Andrew "Drew" Richard Valdez, 28, announce his death. Drew passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2018. Although he was taken from his family and friends much too soon in life, Drew's legacy of warmth, loyalty, generosity and humor will live on through those he knew and loved.

 He was born on March 23, 1990, to parents Andrew "Andy" and Dandi (Ormsby) Valdez. Drew attended Coastal Christian School, Mission College Preparatory High School, and graduated from Nipomo High School in 2008.

     From a young age, those around Drew took notice of his love for making others laugh through humor, wit, and practical jokes. In fact, he had a gift for using his humor to make all feel at home the moment they met him. Throughout both childhood and adulthood Drew shared a special bond with his sister, Annette, as the two were not only siblings, but best friends.

Drew met the love of his life, Shandra, in 2013 and the two were married on August 15, 2015. Shandra fell deeply in love with Drew from the moment she met him, and remains eternally grateful for his unconditional patience, kindness, and love.

In recent years, Drew was known for his passion for cooking and prepping meals for fitness enthusiasts. In fact, he took great joy in regularly offering to cook for friends and family. In addition to cooking, Drew enjoyed playing basketball and living an active lifestyle.

Drew is survived by his wife, Shandra Valdez; his sister, Annette Walshaw and brother-in-law, Oliver; his brother, Seth Echavarria; his mother, Dandi Ormsby; his grandparents, Bernie and Lennette Horton; his grandmother, Concepcion "Connie" Valdez; his great-grandmother, Irene Radman; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Andy Valdez.

 Drew's family will forever cherish his memory, honor, infectious spirit, and constant good humor that will remain his legacy.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at New Life Church in Pismo Beach—on the anniversary of the day Drew and Shandra began dating.

 Although Drew will be missed by all, his family is comforted in knowing that he has been reunited and embraced by his dad, Andy, in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to
